About the Instructor

JP is a professional pilot, with a passion for all things aviation.

With over 15,000 hours of flight time, his love of flying started at an early age.  Under the
watchful eye of his father, he began “aviating” before he was tall enough to see over the
instrument panel of their Beechcraft Baron.

He soloed at age 16 (at which time he also flew the P-51 Mustang for the first time -- with
Lee Lauderback).

With a B.S. in Aerospace from the University of North Dakota, J.P. undertook atmospheric
research (weather modification), charter, and airline flying.  He was “type rated” in, both, the
Boeing 737 and Airbus 320 families at age 28, and has served as the Chief Pilot of a major
airline.

He currently considers himself extremely blessed to be fulfilling a life-long dream of flying
globally as the Chief Pilot of one of Denver’s most elite corporate flight departments.

For recreation, JP flies myriad aircraft & "types", but his two favorites are his fathers P-51D
Mustang, “Crusader” (in which he distinguished himself in 2018 at the National
Championship Air Races in Reno, as the “Rookie of the Year” in the Unlimited Class) and
the Game Composites GameBird GB-1.
